In the Gospel According to Mark he is always mentioned after James and was no doubt the younger brother. His mother was among those women who ministered to the circle of disciples. WebHis Funeral Liturgy was celebrated on April 30, 2001 at St. John’s Cathedral. Two cardinals, four archbishops and 27 bishops along with numerous faithful were in attendance. During the funeral mass homily, Bishop Andrew Pataki, Bishop of Passaic, New Jersey at that time, said “the church is better because he was here.”
