According to some sites, the navy has purchased as many as 40 of the little boats. WebbThe Navy fielded only six Pegasus-class hydrofoils (PHMs) from 1974 to 1993, and they were not used in fleet exercises, despite being outfitted with AGM-84 Harpoon missiles. Instead, their missions became counterdrug operations and coastal defense. Recently, the Navy has experimented with both unmanned and manned small ships.
